A Pool To Be Proud Of

Hello! My name is Melissa and I just wanted to give the BV Pool & Rec Centre staff a HUGE “pat on the back”.  My family and I live in Fraser Lake and made our first visit to Smithers in July. Unfortunately the weather turned on us one afternoon and our planned beach trip was rained out.  We decided to check out the local swimming pool instead.

As a lifeguard/instructor, and since recently moving from Williams Lake to Fraser Lake the one thing we miss most is having a pool in our community.

The receptionist at the front desk was great.  She was very informative and eager to have us come and experience what the facility had to offer. My children were drooling over the rock climbing wall!  As we headed out to the pool, we were informed about the pool space as it was the last day of lessons. The lifeguard was very friendly and explained that we would still have more than enough room to play.

As we walked into the change room it is a habit of mine to look closer than the average patron.  It was EXTREMELY clean and the staff was very friendly. My favorite experience though came towards the end of our vist. As we were leaving I began chatting with the young receptionist who had asked what we thought of the facility. I explained that I had worked in pools for years and that this one was fantastic. She was very bubbly and easy to chat with. We asked if she could suggest a place to eat. She showed me many great places on your tourism map and even called over an other staff member to offer an opinion. They both raved about many of your restuarants and Paul’s Bakery, especially their cinnamon bread!  We ate at The Riverhouse which was delicious, hit the Farmers Market the following morning (as recommended by the BV Pool staff) and picked up 2 loaves of cinnamon bread.

Our first trip to Smithers will not be our last.  The BV Pool staff was a HUGE part of our amazing trip.  I know first hand that as far as public facilities go, positive comments don’t come often enough, mostly we hear about complaints. Kudos to the BV Pool management and staff for running a great facility with THE friendliest staff we have come across yet.  On our next trip, the rock climbing wall is top priority - we ran out of time and our children were VERY upset with us. We will be back in the VERY near future!!

I apologize for the lengthy note, but I was so impressed by the customer service I just had to tell someone!

PS - The first loaf of cinnamon bread is already gone - by far the tastiest we have ever had! The second one is in the freezer to keep us from eating it today!
