Part of the expansive Babine Lake water system, Nilkitwa supports Rainbow Trout up to 14 pounds, Cutthroat Trout up to 2 pounds and Lake Char up to 25 pounds.

Nilkitwa Lake is part of the expansive Babine Lake water system. The lake supports Rainbow Trout up to 14 pounds, Cutthroat Trout up to 2 pounds and Lake Char up to 25 pounds. Success is rated good during the summer months. Abundant unorganized camping space is available with facilities and services in the area.

To find Nilkitwa Lake, drive along the Smithers Landing road until just North of Doris Lake and then take the left branch of the road. The total driving distance is about 115 km.

Day 93 of the Olympic Torch Relay saw a massive event in Smithers, coinciding with the ‘Spirit of the Mountains’ winter festival antics on Main Street.
