Hankin Plateau Trail

Telkwa/Smithers, BC V0J 2N0

A wide, open plateau with wonderful hiking and camping possibilities.

Directions: From the Village of Telkwa (10 km east of Smithers), take Coalmine Road south. Keep left where the road forks at km 6 which is 0 km of the 120 Road. Continue on 120 Road past the turnoff at 14.8 km. The road crosses Goathorn Creek and climbs up the hill on the far side. Take the road that goes off to the right and follows the creek up. After about a kilometer, take the old mimning road straight ahead. About 1 km further, look sharp left for a well-defined trail through the timber. This trail takes you to timberline.

Description: At the end of the trail, you'll reach a wide, open plateau with wonderful hiking and camping possibilities. Views of the valley and surrounding mountains are exceptional. You may even see some mountain goats.
