Babine Mountains Provincial Park offers unique and beautiful hiking opportunities minutes from downtown Smithers.

Babine Mountains Provincial Park is a 31, 476 hectare mountainous environment within the Skeena Mountains ecosection that offers some of the finest hiking opportunities in west-central BC. Hikes range in difficulty and duration.

There is no campground, however the Joe L'Orsa Cabin, located in Silverking Basin, offers accommodation to hikers in the park for a nominal fee (payable at the BC Parks Office).

Snowmobiling, mountain biking, skiing and snowshoeing are also possible in the park.

Smithers Olympic Torch Relay Event

Day 93 of the Olympic Torch Relay saw a massive event in Smithers, coinciding with the ‘Spirit of the Mountains’ winter festival antics on Main Street.
