We flew into Smithers to visit family. Everyone said it rained yesterday and it’s going to rain tomorrow. It never did. For 7 days we enjoyed crisp mornings followed by beautiful sunny fall days.
The signature colours of fall, gold, orange, and yellow painted the mountainsides in broad swathes accented by the darker greens of the firs and spruces…

Day 93 of the Olympic Torch Relay saw a massive event in Smithers, coinciding with the ‘Spirit of the Mountains’ winter festival antics on Main Street.
From our annual Fall Fair & Rodeo to two-time Juno award-winning musician Alex Cuba, Midsummer Music Festival and the Creative Roots dance group, Smithers will keep you entertained.
The activities are limitless! Hiking, biking, boating, swimming, fishing, horseback riding… or just relaxing in view of the mountains.
Winter in the Smithers area is the most beautiful season of all, with lots to do for everyone.
