The Smithers Art Gallery is a non-profit organisation at the heart of the visual arts community in the Bulkley Valley, showing the work of local, regional, and provincial artists in exhibitions that change every 5 weeks. The Gallery regularly holds artists' talks and demonstrations, opening receptions, art workshops for adults and youth, community art events, and summer art camps. On Saturday mornings in the summers it offers free drop-in art activities for kids of all ages.
In December the Gallery is turned into “One of a Kind” artisan Christmas gift shop, THE place in the valley to shop for beautiful, unique gifts handmade by local and regional artisans such as pottery, stained glass, moccasins, jewellery, knitted and felted clothing, body-care, fine woodworking, candles, quilting, fine art, prints, cards, ornaments, carvings, birdhouses, books, and more.
The Gallery is conveniently located at the junction of Hwy 16 and Main Street, housed in the historic Central Park Building next door to the Museum and Visitor Centre, with ample free parking right outside. The Gallery is wheelchair accessible and admission is by donation.
Open hours vary seasonally and are listed on Gallery website.
